The Cottage
A cottage made for 2
Kibble Cottage is a compact 1850s hillside cottage in one of Wirksworth’s peaceful pedestrian areas.
Spread over two floors, it has a cosy lounge, a well-equipped kitchen, a bedroom, and a bathroom, plus a small private garden just outside.
It is designed for two adults looking for a comfortable base within walking distance of Wirksworth and within easy reach of the Peak District.
Why 'Kibble Cottage'?

The cottage takes its name from the ‘kibble’, the basket traditionally carried by Derbyshire’s lead miners.
Wirksworth’s centuries-old carving of T’owd Man shows a miner carrying his pick and kibble.
Today he can be found built into the walls of St Mary’s Church and has become an unofficial symbol of the town.
Lounge
The lounge is a cosy place to come back to after a day exploring Wirksworth or the Peak District, with a wood burner for colder evenings and central heating throughout the cottage.
There is also a television, DVD player and a selection of DVDs, games, books and local information for quieter evenings in.
Kitchen
The kitchen has everything you need for a self-catering stay, whether you're making breakfast before heading out or staying in for the evening.
It includes an electric hob and oven, microwave, under-counter fridge, kettle, toaster, crockery, pans and cooking utensils, with tea, coffee and basic condiments provided.
Bedroom
The upstairs bedroom provides a quiet place to retreat at the end of the day, with bed linen provided for your stay.
Bathroom
The bathroom includes both a separate shower and a bath, giving you the choice of a quick shower or a longer soak after a day out walking.
Garden
The cottage has its own small private garden, reached a few steps up from the kitchen door along the pedestrian path.
It is a lovely spot for breakfast on a sunny morning or for sitting outside later in the day when the afternoon sun reaches the garden.
